Wilson Tien

Wilson H. Tien is the Consultant for the Asia-Pacific Secretariat Office of Culture Mondo Network project. He has been serving Chinese Foundation for Digitalization Technology(CMEX) as Chief Information Officer (CIO) since September 2009, and has been working on the ebook project. He has also served Taiwan Embedded Industry Alliance (TEIA) as Secretary-in-General since March 2008. Before joining CMEX, Wilson served as consultant for Taipei Computer Association (TCA), and was helping Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) of Economic Affairs Department of Taiwan to lead the project of Free Software Industry Promotion Project

Wilson got his master degree from Computer Science Department of Indiana University 1988, and had worked in companies like Delco Electronics (GM subsidiary), Motorola Inc. for a couple of years after he got his degree. He decided to move back to Taiwan 1993 and started his career as a politician. During these years, he has been appointed as Director of Democratic Progressive Party’s Taipei City Chapter, Director of International Affairs Department of Democratic Progressive Party Headquarter, and was elected once as Taipei City Councilor from 2002 to 2006.

After retired from politics 2008,he worked on the Asia-Pacific Secretariat Office of Culture Mondo Network project as project manager, and helped out the Culture Mondo 2008 Roundtable Meeting.

Wilson's background and experience are very unique. After all these years of experience, he has developed a very broad interest on not only technology development but culture related activities. Wilson’s strengths cover strategic planning, situation assessment, intercommunication skill, coordination among institutions, and he is also very familiar with governmental process because of his political training before. Still very much carrying his enthusiasm toward the public interest related issues, he has been often motivated to participate such projects.
