Joy Tang is the Founder of oneVillage Foundation, a global nonprofit organization using innovative approach to deliver the power of technology and information to people in the developing countries, giving them valuable tools for building better lives. She is active in sustainable education and development, promotion of indigenous culture heritage, creation of ecotourism as social enterprise and designing appropriate information and communication technology (ICT) devices and solutions to facilitate collaboration and learning.

With more than a decade of international development and ICT industry experiences, Joy Tang integrated the design of oneVillage Initiative (OVI) as a socio-economic development compass based on her research of and collaboration with communities in Africa and like-minded people from around the world. The OVI is applied in Winneba Open Digital Village in Ghana as the pilot digital learning center and:

‧ Highlights the role of ICT in building a interdisciplinary, bottom up approach;
‧ Provides capacity building services for underserved communities by harnessing global resources to enable the creation of future workforce;
‧ Designs, evolves and promotes sustainable models for global growth.

Winneba Open Digital Village, Ghana is established in 2007 with wireless meshed network set up by the youth and international wireless enthusiasts and experts. The process is to be replicated in Nigeria, Kenya and where there are committed social entrepreneurs. Before her work in digital development in Africa, Joy Tang held positions in the areas of Government Alliances, Emerging Market Development, Sales Development and Executive Briefing and Communication and Cisco Foundation in Cisco. As a Cisco Fellow for community development she gained specialized skills and knowledge in the field of development focusing on the areas of human capacity building, education, ICT4D, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and culture learning which were used to:

‧ Assist the international program in Nigeria for Teachers Without Borders;
‧ Develop One Economy program of bringing access to the Internet to the low-income housing development in the USA and South Africa;
‧ Consult in International Telecom Union’s Least Developed Countries Initiative to address the digital divide and opportunity.

Joy believes that multiplying society’s capacity to change constructively and building the necessary underlying collaborative architecture is the world’s most critical opportunity. Working with the Youth from around the world is a solid demonstration of her belief that Youth coming together will make a difference for the betterment of our world.
